High grade nickels are almost impossible to grade by pictures. And especially from PCGS "Glamour Shots".
Yours has nicks above the dome on the reverse.............

Yeah. Before I even read Marc's response, my immediate reaction was that the big knock in the field above the dome is too sizable for MS67.

What's that green tint in Jefferson's hair?

No, the PCGS has PL frosted fields, a much better strike and better eye appeal.

No way to tell if wondering what the grade on a returned slab will be. Remember any grade coin can be broken out, submitted to the same same company, and receive a different grade. If you are hoping to find one in a "money level" grade, there is no way to determine that b/c there is no legitimate verifiable standard used to grade coins despite we all wish there was.

When PCGS went to something verifiable in the 90s they quickly abandoned it most likely realizing they would no longer be paid more than once to grade the same coin (by someone hoping for a higher grade). Subjectivity is the key to profits so they won;t get rid of it. Meaning, that since they also keep track of how many top pop grades they hand out, they can keep that number low, prices for them soar (b/c they instituted online competition with registry sets), and so more and more people gamble sending in coins (paying high membership fees to do so) hoping for a $$$$ top pop slab to come back.

The PCGS coin has a stronger strike and much better luster, and on your coin there are bag marks above the dome, on the lower cheek, and on the obverse rim that would keep it from a 67.

cant compare these two as previously stated as one is a glamour shot and is used to enhance the coin so just looking at you coin the luster is not there even for a MS66 coin. reverse strike is weak which is typical for the year. I would say it would return as MS65 and will cost you big time

PCGS subscription - $69
grading fee - $23
plus ship and ins both ways

if and only if it pulled a 65 you are looking at about $20 and the outside shot that it would make 66 (which I doubt) its about $25

a coin needs to be one of the following imo

1. a rare coin that needs authenticated and protected
2. the coins value exceeds grading costs enough that it makes sense. I dont slab coins as the costs chew up the value of most coins. I would consider it only if its value would be over $250
