I'm looking to buy a either this coin or one like it, however this one looks fake like it was cast.
what are your thoughts?

At the bottom of the obverse and reverse, it looks like there is a seam at the edge (about K6.5)

ebay item number:167770513888
the images are from the ebay listing

It has the same die crack on the reverse from the bottom of the M through the O as seen on Numista
https://en.numista.com/17460
but other markers don't match such as the water line at the stern of the ship.

I don't like all the scratches. Pass on this one.
Edit: there are some much better ones on MA Shops.

thanks Hondo - the "sideburns" looking mottling does not look right - like I said it looks cast
Just wanted to confirm what I was thinking.

The multiple patches of scratches make me think we're actually looking at removed mount marks on that coin. At the very least, it's severe corrosion removal. Unless it came with a shipwreck provenance or it's super-cheap, I'd pass on it.

Thanks Sap - the ship on the reverse was a design used for a few years - I don't think that the ship depicted on the coin refers to a particular one though.

Cool coin, especially the reverse. I like stamps, currency and coins with ships and other sailing vessels. So your coin is especially nice in my book.
