I recently started noodling a 10kg bulk buy of world coins which included a stack of US pennies. Heaps of Lincoln Memorials (alas, I had them all but got some upgrades), about 25 Wheat Pennies (of which one was new) and most surprising of all, 8 Indian Heads including a 1908 S!. My collection of Indian Heads has now tripled. Not a bad score from the Land Down Under.

Congrats if that's a genuine 1908-S! I'm a little concerned that it might be an added S mintmark. The shape and thinness of the S doesn't seem quite right.

@Zurie - Now you've got me thinking it is a fake, mainly owing to the position of the S. Seems more to the left than it ought to be. What do you think?
The one on the left is a PCGS slabbed specimen which does have a similar S though different position.

With over 1.1 million minted there is sure to be more than one reverse die used. The mintmarks were hand stamped so locations may differ.

As @Marv65 said, the mintmark location can vary depending on the die used. I'm more concerned about the lack of a thick center section and the rounded open space in the top loop. It's subtle, but it doesn't look like a genuine S mintmark. It probably should get authenticated at some point. Hopefully it's genuine.
