After the release of the Enhanced Uncirculated ASE this year, the only version left that the Type 1 would be unique is the Enhanced Reverse Proof. My question is: What would be the next Anniversary/Event that would be worthy of the release of a Type 2 Enhanced Reverse Proof?

The only thing that comes to mind would be the 45th, I hope the Mint doesn't wait another 5 years to do something like this.

There was no particular reason they did the 2 type 1 Enhanced Reverse Proof ASEs. So my answer is, they'll do it if the feeling is right

Meh, the Mercanti reverse is, IDK, "OK". To me it doesn't look so that much different than the eagle on many US design themes. The Army seal, the presidential seal ( half dollar reverse), it's kind of, what's the word ubiquitous:

Quote
"Ubiquitous describes something existing or seeming to exist everywhere at the same time; it means widespread, omnipresent, or constantly encountered. It is often used to describe common items like technology or trends, derived from the Latin ubique ("everywhere")."

At the same time I don't consider myself a type 2 superfan either.
I can't even believe Mercanti got credit for that reverse, very little separates it from other federal seals.
Type 2 complaints are the clipped wings and having the initials for what, the designer AND engraver. Ditch those initials somewhere in the design, not in the field.
And track down whoever thought it was a great idea to put Weinmans initials on the obverse, OMG, people aren't confused enough!?

I know it's a stretch and no official reason from the U.S. Mint but...the Apollo 11 50th Anniversary was 2019 (I know there was a series dedicated to this event)

They never stated a reason I'm aware of.
The W was the USM-RCM collaboration.
My theory is since they were making the dies for the West Point mint, they decided to make some for San Francisco as well, and a star was born.
Realize that the Philadelphia mint makes ALL the dies for all the facilities. Change the mint mark to S, that's all three was to it.

This is more about circulated coins not ASE, the Philadelphia mint makes all the master hub dies but the Denver mint uses them to make their own hubs and striking dies. This explains some of the slight differences and errors between Philadelphia and Denver coins.
