Good Evening CCF!

I finally came across a couple Semiquincentennial nickels the other day and decided to scope them. I noticed extra thickness on the obverse, notably on the "In God We Trust" section so I wanted to see what everyone thinks. I compared it to the other (also a Philly) but the letters looked to be a normal strike.

Possible Die Deterioration?
Should I have not put off my eye exam?

Definitely much thicker than normal. Looks like a new unlisted DDO to me. Definitely worth getting it listed.

well that is interesting looking - but I would have to see other examples first - I don't know what is 'normal' for these coins yet.

It show's all the characteristics of a doubled die strike, I think it is a genuine hub doubled specimen.

That looks exactly like the distended letters on other DDOs. That would be a really exciting find! Makes me want to rush out and find some new nickels to search. =)

I'm not an expert on DDO - just sending along hopeful congratulations if the DDO suspicions are confirmed.
