Thinking about parting with this one if there is more gold price speculation. Found and acquired a better half pond.

I regarded this as a coin worth keeping before I got the other. Not to be bought or sold as bullion. But that was before the price of gold went crazy.
Now I was thinking about a fair ask price. Should I consider this one bullion while trying to sell, or as a desirable coin for collecting.

What would you grade this as? It has circulation wear and some scratches. I do not think it was cleaned but other people may find it cleaned. There is a noticeable scratch over the AFRI.

I don't know these well enough to offer anything more than a guess of AU. There is definitely a fair bit of surface scratching. While cleaning seems less likely, it definitely has some wear and tear. In saying that, I think one of the challenges of collecting gold has always been trying to draw a line between bullion value and collectible value. And that was true when gold was under $1000 an ounce. With it spiking the way it has the last decade or two, unless something is really unusual, I think we have to accept that bullion value is going to come to the fore most of the time.

Some circulation so this one is probably AU-53 or AU-55.

Thank you. I had it has perhaps AU-55 but though the scratch in AFR might downgrade it. Not deliberately cleaned but it is not very attractive.

Perhaps I will hang on to it until I see some other nice gold coin that I really want. This one is like bullion now but gold does not look like it will go down soon.
