I have tried to get into this series several times now. I started out with a Dansco 7125 which fizzled out and then later tried an 8125, which also fizzled out for me. Returned both to Amazon/Ebay.

Recently, I discovered a Whitman album for Roosevelt dimes from 1946-2022. I kind of like this one. It covers all business strikes from 46-2022, and then clad S proofs. Unlike the Dansco, it does not have ports for the Silver S proofs that were released from 1992 and onward. Of course, it does not have ports for either one of the type 2 proof varieties from 79 or 81.

Pretty decent little album for someone who wants a "budget" kind of dime set, I suppose.
I had also considered just buying a blank Dansco album for Dimes. However, they don't really tend to make the blank album series with binders that can accommodate more than one or two pages. This Whitman has six pages. I'd also have to go through all the trouble of labeling and such.

So given all this, I think I might just add some coins to this slowly over time. To add some interest, I think I might try doing only BU coins, where permitted. Roosevelt dimes, even for some of the older silver coins, can be had really cheaply in BU condition.

Anyone have any thoughts/suggestions?

It's a very doable set even in BU. I recently finished off my BU 46-64 dimes and the only ones that were slightly pricy were the 49's. The 49-S was around $33 but alot of the other ones were not much more than "junk silver" prices. I just picked them off year by year until I got them done.

I do not understand. You can get any size binder you want that will hold as many pages as they can. Most of my custom albums are in the 1.125 inch binder and they hold seven (blank) pages.

That I do understand.

Ah! My apologies, jbuck. I should have been more specific. I meant in regards to buying the actual dedicated blank dime album, which is album 7127.
Going this route, like I mentioned, is usually my preferred method. But whenever Dansco makes these "blank denomination" albums, they are generally quite small and hold 4 pages by default. You could probably add another one, but beyond that, you probably won't be able to fit anymore very comfortably.

Of course, you can go the route like you mentioned and just get a completely blank, empty binder. Only downside to this is it is kind of more expensive this route due to having to buy the pages individually. But, something to ponder.

Ah, yes, that makes sense!

I bought most of these binders and pages well before Dansco moved, when the prices were less than half what they are now. My more recent purchases (for my world coin project) have had a bit more bite.

I have no customer brand loyalty. While my earliest albums are Dansco, Whitman has been gaining on them the last few years.
But, whatever name comes closest to your collecting aims should probably be your choice.

The only Dansco album I've bought recently was for Nickels, and I bought it blank with four pages for a total of 140 ports. I've used black on clear tape in my label maker. IMO, it doesn't look too shabby...well, except that at this point it's mostly empty!

This route provides customizing to your exact wishes.

Never really was a fan of any Whitman folders or albums (yes, tried folders as a kid and album when I 'grew up'.
I like my Dansco 8125 album as it has a spot for clad and silver proof coins, I just had to add some pages for the S business and satin coins.

I got my start with Whitman folders. I began the shift to Dansco albums after nearly five years in them. I still have those old folders and some of them I started to re-fill with change finds just for fun.

My father had those Whitman folders when I was a kid, and that's probably where I initially got my interest in collecting.
I inherited his and keep them, if for no other reason than sentiment.

But the albums are clearly in a league above the folders. Like comparing a Chevette with a Corvette.

I think I got my first Dansco in the early '80s, and they still constitute the majority of albums. But, Whitman has become my first choice for new purchases.

Nobody mentions Littleton. I don't have any, but they look nice.

My first car was the former. A 1978 model.

I was kind of taken back by the fact that the album itself doesn't have any spaces not just for the 81 type 2 proof, but also the 79 type 2 either. This is bizarre, as most albums usually have at least the 79 type 1 and 2 varieties.

That said, I had considered like I mentioned previously doing a custom Dansco album. That would be an expensive endeavor, though. I said the hell with it and decided to go all in. I ordered a Dansco 8125 (again lol) and also ordered some lots on ebay that consisted of 60 BU/mint pack dimes from 1968-1999 for P&D mints, and then a lot of 27 proof clads from 1968-1994.
I figured this would be a great way to get me started and also maybe trying to do an all BU set, which still is pretty affordable, would keep it interesting.

Great jump start Are you sending back the Whitman or keeping it? I should be getting my 8125 today, Not sure when I'll be doing the silver proofs but I will have a spot for them. I'm ok with holes.

I hope so!

I would like to try to get all of the old silver business strikes in UNC as well when it comes to that. However, that may or may not be a reasonable task, depending on current silver prices.

I figured maybe if I took a different approach, it might keep it more appealing and interesting. Also, to be honest, it just looks better, too.
Checking out Dearborn's Roosevelt dime set was also a large influence on this in particular.
Beautiful stuff.

I also like the fact that now, at least with the exception of half dollars, I now have a series that I'm working on for every US coin denomination.

I got a bunch of my silver business strikes from ebay seller "Sean's Nickel & Dime" He's away until June 8th so nothing shows up at the moment. Never got any that was disappointing, ymmv.
