Can anyone help me to identify the interconnecting lines I see on this penny. It's only on the obverse. Many lines are intersecting creating a dot, followed by more of the same. This is covering the entire obverse except for some of the high points due to wear.
I would not have noticed these, but the light and angle of the loupe showed these raised geometric lines.
The first photo is from a 10x Apple phone camera. The second is a 100x close up using a hand held microscope and my Apple phones camera attached to the microscope. (I didn't know I was that patient)
I haven't been able to find anything like it on-line.
I would greatly appreciate any assistance on identifying what causes this odd condition. Is it true die crazing from an over used die?
Thank you for any help you can give me.
Cucamonger.

To CCF! That's not a Shattered Die error. See the link here. https://www.error-ref.com/4880-2/ It's something that's on the coin. It's PMD of some sort.
