1945-D Q & A. (Images Revised/Improved)

dbrablec Pillar of the Community United States 1944 Posts	Posted 07/07/2009 11:59 am this is a close up of the date area of a 1945D. as I search coins, and compare them to the photos at "coppercoins" site in an attempt to learn, there are 3,1945D's described as having "strong" to Moderate" extra thickness. when I compare this coin, to other 1945's that I have available, this one DOES appear to have extra thickness. I am posting this as much in an effort to learn as I am to see if I have found a variety. is there anything here, or is it just normal wear. thanks. different inages added - thanks for everyones help. Really need to see the entire date and mint mark for a good comparision. The bottom of the 9 appears it could be class 6, the top looks to have taken a hit and spread some. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 07/07/2009 8:43 pm Looks a little like 1945D-1DO-002. The curved bar on the right looks like that one. You might check other devices to see if the spread matches. A better image of the full date and mint mark would help as I could overlay that area and see if the mint mark location matches.
