There is similar coins in the catalog, but not same... what you think - real coin or fake
15.4 grams/29mm diameter/2.5mm approx. thick

Hi, I'm very interested in an answer to this as I've got one as well. My $0.02 worth is that it's either a jeton or a bordello token. The heart shaped symbol would fit either use. Good luck with this one, and I'll be keeping a close eye on the results.

The heart-shaped symbol is very similar to the balemark of the British East India Company. If it's not a coin (I'll double-check when I get home), then it's probably a weight.

I knew I'd seen one of these before... I finally found it again today, in the shop display of a dealer I visit only infrequently. It's from Penang, Straits Settlements (now in Malaysia), a 1 cent (or 1 pice), struck by the Company in 1786. It's listed in the 1700's Krause under "Malaya - Penang", KM# 3. Here it is on that coin dealer's web page, right at the top of his "world coins M-Q" listing.

So, that's that one identified finally. Better late than never.
