Quote: chuckster 125 I e-mailed the guy and told him I didn't think it was legit you can see an actual space between the AM and the FG was too close to the memorial (I learned alot from you guys in the last week) and offered to send him one of my pictures to compare it to. waiting for him to reply. Kie
The guy wasn't to happy being asked those questions. If he displayed better pictures there wouldn't be a need for these questions. I just asked the guy for clearer and closer photo's.

Ken Potter's article on my coin is in todays on-line Coin World magazine. And the coin is on the way to PCGS for complimentary grading and a story on their site. Kie

Mike The Penny jasper62 That is the same guy that has been trying to sell a normal 92 as a CAM when I e-mailed him and explained that he did not have a rare coin he got pretty nasty, so I have been following his auctions and he pretty much just sells junk.

Kie,
Read the article; glad to see you got some recognition for the find! Even though the article got the name of our little community here wrong ("Coin Collector's Forum") it was still good to see us here mentioned. Congratulations again!

Sorry about getting the forum name wrong, that woud be my fault. I just assumed(and we all know what assuming does) our name was Coin Community Forum as I see that title posted everywhere on the site. I will have it correct when I do the PCGS article after the grading is complete. The sad part is I didn't even know there was a page 2 until I read your post, I jumped from 1 to three with the hyperlink attached to the article and just figured they edited out the personnal intrest stuff.

What are you going to do with that coin after PCGS grades it?

I'm still not sure, several reasons I am seesawing between keeping and selling. 1 Pending the grade no one I've talked to will even give me a ballpark estimate of the value. Ken Potter thinks it will grade between 58 and 63. The best guess I have on a value is "we will know when it is sold". I am afraid PCGS will bodybag it due to the 2 corrosin spots and I will have to send it to NCS/NGC with no idea of the expense. 2 Could I use the money YES, do I absolutely need the money No. 3 The little boy in me is extremely mean and gets a twisted sense of joy from being able to say "I got one and you don't" My brain bucket is overloaded with how all the different scenarios could pan out; The only thing I am fairly certain of is I won't be selling until after the first of the year, for income tax purposes.
On a separate note, I have never had anything sent in for grading before, any idea how long it normally takes to grade something like this. I was told it was going to be walked through the process( by Jaime Hernandez), but I am not sure what that means. I am normally a very patient man and they have only had the coin for 3 days, but it is driving me crazy.

If it gets bodybagged you might want to consider sending it to anacs, since they will grade problem coins with hard grades rather than the blanket grades NCS gives. If you sell you may get more than subsequent sales would, because yours will be the first on the market. Note how the sale prices of 98 wide ams and 99 wide ams have dropped as more pieces have become available. If your a big lincoln collector though, id keep it, since theres only two of these it will easily become the centerpiece of your collection. -XoG
