ANACS often lists Canadian dollars on its slabs as MS-- PL. What does that mean? It is often taken to mean proof like, but calling ANACS they say that it only means "proof like surfaces". Can anyone help clarify?

Thanks,

Steve

I believed they mean Prooflike finish because they don't consider PL is a grade that's why they put MS-- and PL.

You are incorrect, A coin can be a MS and be PL or even DMPL but a coin can't be MS and PR or PF (which stands for Proof) but PL and DMPL just means it has Proof Like or deep Mirror Proof Like Surfaces where it almost looks like a proof because it was struck with fresh dies and has mirror fields

Hello Bryan1315,
thanks for that.
However, I believe a Business strike is just that. How you dress it up depends on how you wish to express it to get attention...
I have however, never seen these designations with coins graded in canada.
Maybe I am wrong...always ready to learn
