Came across this auction last night: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...TRK:MEWAX:ITFrom the pics the didnt look like proof sets and definatly not in original government packaging but I thought mabye it was a wrong photo or something else. So I write the seller and say: "Sorry but I was a little confused with your listing, are the coins listed the ones up for bid, because they look to be in hard capitol holders not original proof set boxes or envelopes. Please clarify. Thanks". His response "these are unc silver quarters and it is very expensive and hard to put them together year by the year like this they are real beauty and worth to have them in this holders they are very protected thank you for your kind question" So I write back "OK so are they proof sets or uncirculated mint sets?" His response "what ever you want to call jokingjoker you don't have nothing to do this morning than to make jokingjoke hhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaa I got you fell free to ask more question here to help you to resolve your morning problems jokingjoker" My response "You do know that proof sets and mint sets are two different things, and being one or the other will dictate the price significantly. Before I spend money I would like to know exactly what I'm buying and as a seller you would think that you would want to list them correctly. I have been collecting coins and been in numismatics for 15+ years, and every once in a while I come across a seller like you, who instead of wanting to make a sell they want to make jokes. You have a great day sir!" Still waiting for a response. Sorry just needed to vent some frustration. My guess, guy don't know jack about what he's selling. I hate to get short with people, just some make me so argghhh!!

They look like an uncirculated year sets most likely put together by somebody. He has no idea what he is selling... his bad grammar says it all. I don't know what "rear" means.
Looks like he is the joker with those stated prices "hhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaa"

Now I'm really interested in what he means by "rear" I looked and he's used the term on some of his completed listings. Thats funny, but now I will be curious all day.

The seller was offering uncirculated (maybe) silver quarters in capitol plastic holders (not U.S. Mint issue) and calling them "proofs". I would bet he/she saw the RedBook price for PF70 quarters from these years and said "Hey $500 each ... that's what these are!" The seller is not a numismatist and does not know the difference between proof and uncirculated ... heck, probably doesn't know the difference between uncirculated and circulated. And with the userid "jokingjoker" you set yourself up for that reply. I see this type offering all the time on ebay. If I have time, I'll fire off a "question to seller" and let them know what they really have. I have received replies similar to yours ... I just delete them and move on.

Looks to me he wants proof prices for ~UNC coins. So where's the proof these are proofs? Ever time a question is raised, it's good for ebay (imo)

"THIS SET IS WORTH BY THE BOOK" Since its in the book, what can I say? If that's what the book says I guess these sets really are a deal and rear too.

Yeah.... I think you probably ticked him off a bit. Just a LITTLE bit.
So far no uncirculated rolls.
