I have not been on this site, so I am not sure if this topic has been posted in the past. I am curious what are some of your best finds with a metal detector? I will try to post a pic or two.

I tried to use edit .. and add a pic here .. I hope it worked

Whoa! If you found all of that with a metal detector then I need to get where you are! Welcome to this forum by the way. I live in Stone Mountain, GA and hunt on Civil War battle grounds. I've found various types of Civil War rounds and a few clasps & latches. My best find thus far has been a Confederate belt buckle. I've found all kinds of coins but nothing much better than Mercury dimes and other silver denominations. I did find a Barber Half once but it was pretty gnarly and beat up.

Most of that was found beach hunting when I was stationed in Hawaii .. I have found a lot of coins too .. trying to figure out how to add another pic to the post ..

I never did find a belt plate .. one of the things I have always wanted to find.

That is a incredible amount of coins and look to be in very good condition for metal detecting finds. How long have you been in the hobby. Very,Very nice. Thanks for sharing. Anxious to see the other pictures you want to post.

Thanks tampabaygrampa

I am hoping to see some the cool stuff others have found ... can pictures be added after the initial posting?

I have been metal detecting since the early 80's. I was in the Air Force for over 20 years that helped me metal detect many different areas. One site I hunted in northern Virgina I found hundreds of silver coins some of the mercury and Roosevelt dimes were in amazing shape for being lost in the so long. But for me .. 3 years on the Hawaii beaches were the best.

Dang! I just saw the second pic. Dude, frankly, you rock. That is a ton of stuff! I'll poke around for the buckle and post a pic. I haven't done much hunting in the last 3-4 years. When my Daughter was born free time was a lot harder to come by. Now that she's getting bigger(4 yrs. on 10/20) I may be able to get her to come out with me. For some reason I have neglected to take her. Thanks for the post!

If you want nice finds, go were wealtheir people party and lose things. Easy come easy go. Hawaii would be a good place, or any high end resort.

Good luck taking your daughter hunting .... I use to take my two daughters when they were younger.
My youngest found her first silver dime when she was 5 years old. She could barely hold the machine (fisher 1235-X) and the headphones would slide off her head .. but she told me she heard something, I helped her dig .... was a nice silver rosey.

Amazing stuff! I've been looking into metal detecting and doing some local history research so that when spring comes I'm ready to go out, not rush into it. Yet too bad the ground is rock solid here in NY and theres a foot of snow on it or I'd be out right now after seeing your finds lol.

Very nice finds .. makes me want to get back out there. Some of those are very interesting looking.

Not sure what this oil spill will do to our beaches. My plan was to get out and dig some more gold, was going to sell gold rings to pay for gold coins .. The thought of the oil out there has kept me from the beaches.
