A little over 5 weeks ago, I won an auction for a modern proof coin on ebay. I only paid a little over $2.50 for it. In the item description, the seller stated that it could take up to 14 days for them to ship their items. I was fine with that. I waited over a month and I still had not received the coin. I contacted the seller through ebay and asked if the coin had been mailed out. I received no response for 5 days, so I sent another message to the seller requesting a status. I have been stiffed by a seller in the past and I was very close to filing a complaint with Paypal. The seller never contacted me, but I finally received the coin in the mail yesterday. What kind of feedback do you think would be appropriate for this seller? I received the coin and it looked great, but the customer service was horrible and the delivery was late. Your opinions would be appreciated.

I'll let you answer this yourself ... this is the second time you've had a bad experience with this seller. As a potential buyer with no experience with this seller, "what would you want to know?"

Did they give you feedback after you paid? If they already gave you positive feedback I would write whatever you want. I had given a buyer neg feedback once then they responded by giving me neg feedback even though I paid with pay-pal about 5 seconds after the auction. I would say neg if they already gave you pos. I would go neutral with some harsh or sarcastic words to go with it.

I just wanted to clarify that I've only dealt with this particular seller in question once. I was stiffed by a different seller. I'm probably making too big of a deal over such a little thing (especially for a $2.50 coin.) I just hate bad customer service.

I would give negative feedback. Regardles on whether they have left feed back yet. Anyway sellers cant leave negative feedback for buyers anymore. Right?

Sellers can no longer leave negative feedback for buyers. Buyer feedback is pretty much worthless these days.
nolawyer, don't let the cost of the item sway your opinion. You received poor service and no response to your inquiries. Sellers sometimes encounter unforseen problems that require a little buyer understanding and patience. Had the seller responded, explained the circumstances and apologized, I would say let it go. In this case you were not important to them. Why should they be important to you? Only by using the feedback system will these folks understand customer support.

If negative, then no sarcasm and nothing personal.
Just factual and pointed but stay adult. I agree that you should still nuke them.
Over a month, and no communication?,,,Negative.

I'd stay with a neutral feedback as you did get what you paid for it just was not the greatest customer care. Keep it simple with comments like ...long shipping time & ...communication could be better.

I guess I wouldn't say anything. When they tell you that mailing could be delayed 2 weeks you should probably expect 3 weeks, and then a week in the mail.

In this case, I think the seller deserves a neutral if the coin is as described. Their stated shipping time is too long to start with, but they didn't even stick with their own TOS. I would also give them 1 Shipping Time star and a low Communication star. The cost of the item makes no difference in the type of service you should have received. Sellers are very focused on the Detailed Seller Ratings (stars). This is what is determining discounts and the ability to reach TRS (Top Rated Seller.) This seller needs to improve service and should be made aware of that.

My opinion is that you don't want to totally nuke the guy but you do want other buyers to know the potential downside. I'd give him a neutral and explain why. Something like, "As described but totally uncommunicative and over a month to ship." What Susan said about the Detailed Seller Ratings is absolutely true. That's where you want to zing the guy on those two issues.

Negative. People are too nice with stuff like this. A month is waaay too long with no communication. I'm extremely understanding as long as you tell me what's going on. I'll wait weeks longer than anyone should have to as long as you give me some sob story about your toe hurts and your car is out of gas and the post office was closed, etc. But not answering my questions and not delivering for a month is a negative. Sorry.

If the seller didn't care enough to respond to your messages, they don't care about your feedback. Leave the negative as a warning to other buyers. Something like: Poor communication, delayed shipping, avoid if possible.
