Is This A Mint Error, Or A Post Mint Fantasy?

Definitely not in my normal vein of collecting. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...TRK:MEWNX:IT However, I found it on ebay while searching for coins from my birth year. It seemed like a pretty dramatic error and the positioning of the date was so perfect. Now I'm wondering if the positioning of the date is too perfect! biokemist6 Bedrock of the Community United States 12437 Posts	Posted 11/20/2009 11:51 am It is a legit OC strike and it is unusual to see one that far off center with a full date. As for the price, it seems a bit high due to the corrosion spotting. Given the fact that you were searching for that specific date, you may have had a difficult time finding another 1970 that far OC so the price would only be considered high if you were just looking for a type example of an OC cent. A soaking in mineral oil may help to take care of some of the spotting and badthad's Verdidgone would probably help as well. BTW, that coin is closer to 90% OC- the percentage is derived from the unstruck surface area of the planchet, not the amount of design present. Report this Post to the Staff
