Does anyone have experience with ICG grading service? How are they with cost, turn around and accuracy? Have they nudged out ANACS for a spot in the top 3 TPGs? An inquiring mind wants to know. Thanks.

No they haven't and are not likely to do so. I've got a couple coins in ICG that are accurately graded. I sold a couple ICG coins that were over-graded a couple points.

ICG has been through some difficult times lately (don't know the details) and I believe ANACS has a solid hold on #3 in the TPG race.

Since I haven't submitted to ICG myself I can't comment on turn=around times but their prices seem reasonable and if you just need a coin authenticated they would be fine.

Actually, they're both pretty equally respected. I use ngc just because my ANA membership avoids fees.

PCGS tends to command higher premiums in the marketplace but NGC is a close second - NGC is very good.

The following ebay sales reflect a wide discrepancy in ICG and NGC for the 2002 ASE MS-70. The latter is going for four times that of the ICG. I checked if this was an anomaly and it is not, as there are several completed sales that reflect this. Why the huge discrepancy? Is ICG too liberal in their grading?

I only have 2 ICG slabbed coins and I think both of them are over-graded. I know that is not a very scientific sample.

As for NGC & PCGS, PCGS gets much higher realized prices in Teletrade auctions especially for MS65+ coins.
