I do about the same as eagle foot. I crack the sets open to fill the albums. I also try to keep a set or two each year to put away.

For my complete (two book) Dansco set I only have the five silver proof holes left open.

Here is a pic of the last page, it is hard for me to get a good pic at night ...

Okay, thanks you two. I don't do album collecting so I wasn't sure about it. Nice to know though.

I have been putting together a proof silver State Quarter NGC-70 set. I have about 11 more to go, as always mostly the hardest & most expensive keys are left. I find that bidding or buying individually has been quite a bit cheaper than by year sets. These coins in silver 70 really personify the engravers art. As a subset I have been grabbing high grade PCGS satin finish; These seem to be rising in price rather quickly as are earlier silver.

I try to stay away from the ultra modern slabbed 70 stuff. The prices in my opinion are over inflated and most the time from what I have seen, some of the 69's look just as good. When I chose to do this set, I was at my local coin dealers and a guy came in trying to sell a dansco with clad proof State Quarters. The quarters spaced so closely on a page looked like a mirror and I was hooked. I decided to go with the silvers because most of the time they seem to have deeper and more reflective fields. Glad I did!

I like the State Quarter with a passion. And also the silver proofs are my favorite, the have a very quality look.

I don't really buy slabbed coins, but I am curious if anyone knows what would be a common grade for quarters that are just broken out of the silver proof set. I would guess there would be a lot of PR-68 and PR-69's.
I guess I am asking if anyone has seen any numbers of .. for example if someone sent in 100 silver proof quarter sets what might be the break down of the grades. Or maybe it is the population reports I have heard about.

This site is not quite up to date but the pop. reports seem to be in line with others.

Billie - Thanks for the link ... that is just the information I was looking for.

From those numbers I would say PR-69 is the most common grade for those that are sent in, with a good number or PR-70 with most of the last several years.

I'm going to try to complete a full PDSS set of State Quarters this summer. I already have all PD uncirculated, although I want to get all the coins 2005-2008 in the satin finish. I have about 26 or 27 clad proofs (including all 5 1999s) and about 10 silver proofs.

I also just ordered the DC/Territories Quarters Silver Proof Set, so I now have a complete set of PD(satin finish) SS DC/T quarters. I want to be all caught up for the ATB Quarters!

And I can't wait to get the Dansco albums. The series looks really nice in them.

And I can't wait to get the Dansco albums.

My D.C. & Territory Dansco is complete with Business Strike, Satin Finish, Proof, and Silver Proof ! ......and yeah....it's a super nice looking "short-set" ! .....
I got an "extra page" for the Satins since Dansco doesn't recognize the Satin Finish, as was advised to me by my Bud JBUCK.
I also got the "First Day Coin Covers" of the D.C. & Territories.....SO.....I'm REALLY COMPLETE !
The F.D.C.C.'s was certainly not something I would have thought I would have wanted.....but hey....I have a Set that could NOT BE ANY MORE COMPLETE NOW......so shoot me ! LoL Ha Ha
(and by the way....for anyone who's interested....ALL of the F.D.C.C.'s for D.C. & the Territories are still for sale on the Mint website !)

(I "am" still missing just one Territory Qtr. in Business Strike....can't remember now which one that was...I think it was the Northern Mariana Islands P mint, but I'll find it shortly and be 100% done with those !)

I didn't go quite as full blown on the quarter proofs. My album is P and D, and I have the proof sets, both clad and silver, and also the clad and silver quarter sets. So, in that roundabout way, I do collect the silvers. All of my quarters are just not together in a set, and that works fine for me!

I stated my State Quarter collection from circulated coins about a month ago. I would say I have a little over half of them. Here lately though I can't seem to find the ones I am missing. The ones I already have keep showing up. If you are collecting them this way, did you run into a period where they got hard to find? I don't know about this week yet, I look through the weeks worth of coins on Sunday.

Hey Wormslick.....one way to get em' super fast is just go to your bank and ask to order a box of quarters. They're $500.00. You will then fill your album almost 100% with the ones you're missing.
If you can't afford to order the box.....it doesn't matter. Just go to the bank and ask for any amount of rolls of quarters that you "can" afford.....then look through them....You'll find the ones you want !.....

I just won an E-bay auction yesterday for a 2008 silver Alaska quarter in PR69 UCAM by NGC. I paid $15.50, did I get a good deal or not? I wanted to stay under $12 hut I have lost three auctions trying to get one of these. I have been wanting one since I first saw one in '08. The shipping was free . Thanks everyone.
