Metalman Pillar of the Community United States 7123 Posts	Posted 12/28/2009 07:02 am Hi Marc the early proofs can be either frosted or not, the process was much different then for preparing the dies to strike proof coins only the very first strikes with the dies would actually be frosted. frosted examples are worth a premium for this reason. biokemist6 Bedrock of the Community United States 12437 Posts	Posted 12/28/2009 1:37 pm Business strike S nickels were minted in 1968 for the first time since 1954. It was also the first year for proof issues from San Francisco. It should be easy to discern a business strike from a proof- the proof will be brilliant with mirrored fields, strong details, and squared rims.
