Hi Everyone,

My first post :-)

I found a 1963-s Lincoln Cent a couple days in a roll I was searching. Has anyone else run across this kind of thing (non-existent mint mark on low-value coin)? I can only think that someone was perfecting his craft before tackling a coin of value!

1963-S-Lincoln-Cent?

Here's a photo (best I can do with my old camera). The coin looks like it spent a while in a gravel parking lot, and the mint mark itself is a little crude (skinny and low tails, taller middle).

Cheers,
JDH

Hope it's a wreath or wheat reverse!

Interesting. A close-up of the MM would be helpful.

Thanks for the opinions. I tried to get a better photo of the date and MM, but my camera is just too crude. The reverse is unsurprising (Lincoln Memorial).

I think it's either a 1969-S, as biokemist6 suggested, or a 1963-D that's been turned into an "S". The thing is so bashed up though that it's hard to tell. Either way, it's a conversation piece for me and my children.

If I ever get a better photo system, I'll post a clearer photo.

I'm going to say altered or chewed up 1963-D. Looks like it is from the pre-1969 hub. Still an interesting find though :)
