I don't think it's ancient, it has a mediaeval look to it, but I have no idea where this one is from - 30mm is very large for a mediaeval (or ancient) silver coin.

Thanks Sap, What would you say the time period for medieval coins? I suppose that I might be posting in the wrong area. Should I be in the 'classic world coins' part of the site?

I haven't seen anything like this before, I agree with Sap it's not ancient could be medieval. It may be some type of jeton. Is it lead?

The Middle Ages (adjectival form: medieval)
is a period of European history covering roughly a millennium in the 5th century through to the 16th century.

Your coin is very very strange, it looks to me like homemade medieval fantasy coin.
Just my feeling, don't pay attention.

OK, zeewool, I was looking for one of your other South-east Asian coin-like things, and came across this piece while flicking through the pages on Zeno: Kingdom of Funan silver unit, circa 70 - 550 AD. Funan was the Chinese name for the pre-Khmer Hindu kingdom that ruled much of Southeast Asia during that time period.

Now that's a nice find.
