Singapore banknotes. Portrait $5. 1st variant issued in 1999, signed by the then-Finance Minister Richard Hu Tsu Tau. Replacement prefix 0CX. A piece that is hard to come by. This piece that I have is of poor condition, think probably at best VF20. PMG catalogue: Pick #39*. Only 94 pieces in PMG record.

Got a new German note to add to the collection. Cool design but from a pretty tragic time period.

Great notes everyone! I saved this 200TL note from my recent cruise when the ship called in Istanbul. It has a face value of about US$5, and, amazingly, is currently the country's highest face value circulating banknote!

My interest in world banknotes was recently reignited by The Numismatist's "Paper Money" column and my trip to the fall coin show. Thematically I like notes with birds and churches, but really any attractive, inexpensive note might find its way into my collection. First up is a 1984 Indonesia 100 Rupiah with a Victoria crowned pigeon on the obverse and the Sigura-gura Dam on the reverse. The dealer listed this as P-122a, which were engraved. P-122b were lithographed. I can't seem to tell the difference and want to verify the variety. Any thoughts?

This happened to our Canadian currency back in the eighties & I could not tell the difference. I know some collectors who claimed that they could (by examining the embossing, the engraved would leave more) but this was usually online. Most of us went by the prefix & serial number cut-off point (provided by our Charlton guide) b/c otherwise, they look identical. I just checked my Krause SCWPM & the BNM & Numista. None of them have a prefix change-over point. The BNM shows a note with the prefix KBQ as P-122b FWIW. Below is the link for P-122 on Numista: https://en.numista.com/204548Quote: Thematically I like notes with birds and churches, but really any attractive, inexpensive note might find its way into my collection. I like notes with birds too. Presently, I'm focussing on trying to get some African notes in UNC (which can be challenging). I put in an order from a dealer who did not send 2 notes I ordered from Tanzania & Malawi. Instead she put this note in my order, which happens to be my 2nd example of this 10/- from Uganda. It has a nice heron on it but I would have preferred the 2 notes from Tanzania & Malawi:
