Just become a closet collector, you don't have to tell anyone. Keep putting coins away, while you are enjoying the company of the girls and then in ten years time when you have settled down, you can come back to your box of coins and have a fantastic collection.

Have fun and enjoy your youth, you only live once.

Don't give up; just put it aside for now. I put my collection away for almost 20 years. I was very surprised to see how the value of all my coins went up when I started again. If you have a Red Book or a coin magazine that shows values, I suggest that you put it in your box as well so you can see the difference from today's value and the value when you start again. Now that I started collecting again, I always find myself saying "I wish I never stopped" If you can afford it, I suggest going on the US mint site and signup for a subscription to the mint sets and proof sets. That way you do not have to be actively collecting coins but you will still be mailed the current years set. Of course these are just my opinions and it will be ultimately be up to you.

I'm a late bloomer, I didn't start collecting till my 30's. There's time enough for everything. Pursue what makes you happy you will enjoy it most.

Hey, that's ok...tomorrow is another day. This gives you time to study and search the internet and to spend time on the forum with all of us. Not always do our daily plans work out. I learned a long time ago to always try and turn a negative into a positive - works for me!

Hi Cool, Coins are cool too!! A guy should have a lot of different interests. Coin collecting, being just one of many, will make you a well rounded individual. This not only will be appealing to your girlfriends, but their parents will think you're someone special too!! Stable, well adjusted, has other interests, intellegent!!! Yes, they'll be happy she chooses to date a young man like you!! If you do put it aside for a few moments in time, it's OK to take a break. You will always have an interest, because it's knowledge, things you've taken the time to learn. Like painting, or playing the guitar, you've invested your time and energy, and you may stop for awhile, but you can pick it up and start again anytime you desire. Good luck on finding some wonderful coins and girlfriends too!!
Rest in Peace

All I can say is that my DH is a coin dealer and says that it did help him with the ladies. He said they automatically assume you are rich and will not stay away. So maybe you should become a dealer, not just a collector? Then you could have the money and the women. Just something to think about.
