When you are a coin dealer it also makes you seem very interesting to people. When my dh goes out he is always the most popular person in the room because he does something unusual. If you are interesting, and the women think you are wealthy, and you have a job you enjoy then you will have it made. Sounds like a good plan to me!

collectors are always broke I can tell you that from experience. We are too busy giving the dealers our money. Like someone addicted to drugs, we swear we are going to stop if we could just afford one more, then we get that one and gotta have another one

I am glad you decided to keep collecting. The youth of today are the future of numismatics.

To tell you a short story.

When I met my better half, we discussed our collecting interests (she collects Cherished Teddies figurines) and she wasn't familiar with "real" coin collecting. She just assumed we just kept our pocket change in jars everywhere. :)
I decided to take her to the local dealer with me on one of my coin hunts.
He just happened to get in 2 1921 Walkers and that was the only one I needed to complete my set. There was an AG and an XF. She insisted I get the XF. She stated that I would be satified that the set was done but knew that every time I looked at my set I would think "That one could have been better".
Needless to say, the XF is in my collection now and that was the momment I knew she was for me.

It's O.K. to think you are quitting. But, the knowledge and experiences are with you forever. Life is not a straight line to travel but, a meandering path of curves and circles. So, see you soon.

If I thought about quitting, I sure wouldn't tell it to any collectors- simply because collectors are all a very special people. They like challenges! They like the hunt! That is only one teeny weeny thing I like about it- The hunt- Boy! what a thrill! WHen I was a young kid, I lived in the boonies and did get to hunt- me and my dog. We had fun- always exciting.
So of course if it has never been exciting to you- then you should give it up- But please don't tell anyone--because there are too many of us who love it. Yeah- you're not gonna quit..Don't kid me! Say now, if you like girls, and all us fellows do- then you could think about collecting Liberty Ladies portraits- Lot's of them. Or you could put together an Ancient ladies hairdo collection (I did that too) there is just a jillion things you can do with this hobby. You didn't ask me, but I am telling you, It is and has been the Hobby of Kings. So when you collect coins, you are in the company of great people._Hey! I am 79 years of age- been collecting since 1952- never lost interest-= and boy oh boy- as one person on this topic said, the coin collections do appreciate in value dramatically. Dewey
