Hey Guy's I metal detect on weekends and when I get enough Clad I tumble them to get them clean and put back into circulation.Today After cleaning the silver clad I noticed this one.It has a Golden tone to it.It was the only Quarter that came out like this. The other 24 Quarters were normal color. Is there anything to this one?Any Ideas appreciated
sulfer from paper will cause golden toning like that, I've seen golden jeffersons toned from being in paper holders (such as the 1993 coin and currency set). -XoG
That's interesting,I've never heard that one before,I've heard of rapping coins in a Taco bell napkin and that will tone a coin.not sure I believe that one
During the 1950's they used to store Cents in small envelopes. They found out later it turned them dark and ruined them. It happens. Sometimes what you do to coins, later turns out to be the wrong thing.
