These are dealer's pix, but they're pretty good.

Definitely uncirculated, but looks like it may have been cleaned. It's hard to tell from these pics. There are some mottled areas in the fields that may be from cleaning. If it hasn't been cleaned, I'd give it MS63. There are a few too many hits to the cheek, neck, and nose for higher in my opinion.

The Breast Feathers all look lovely. and Wing feathers also sharp.

Seems MS-64 if youre lucky.
And if the Grader is in a good mood.

TKC!
Rest in Peace

I tend to be a little harsher on Mint States with high quantities available. With the blotches and other marks on both sides, presuming it hasn't been cleaned (I don't think it has), I'd guess MS-61 or -62. Given the top TPG's tendency to base the grade on aesthetic appearance, I don't think it would go up to MS-63. But, there's only one way to find out...

Maybe, but it's my experience that the TPGs are more lenient to coins which are common in higher mint state grades, and are brutal on "condition rarities."

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see this get a 63 because of the date. Now if it were an 1884-S instead, even if otherwise an identical coin, it would be lucky to make 61.
