There is actually a method to my madness - the day will come when I'm bored with Morgans, and these are just truly nice looking coins in circulated condition. swamperbob Pillar of the Community United States 5362 Posts	Posted 07/06/2006 9:36 pm The 1830 Bust Half dollar was my first truly old collectable coin. I got it from my grandfather in 1957. He had gotten it in change - it was the first money he earned after graduating from High School in 1904. So 100 years ago, these old Half Dollars were still seen in pocket change! By the way, I also kept the first money I ever earned working. I made 50 cents for cutting down a hedge and my pay was a 1943 Half Dollar. I would agree with the grade here - nice VF20. Has anyone an opinion on the Overton Variety here? This is clearly one of the 4 Large 0 varieties. There are 23 die marriages used in 1830. From the position of the I in the motto under the T in STATES - you have only one possibility - the Overton 122. Report this Post to the Staff
