Obviously I'll need to see this coin first hand before I can solidify a judgement.

That said, pursuant to the diagnostic guidance provided by Redbooks 2010 & Pro, the appearance that no image manipulation has occured, and notwithstanding the out-of-focus appearance on the upper-right quadrant of the coin: Given the clarity of the horizontal [and vertical] lines on the shield, intact rims, wear on olive leaves, and details on the reverse stars, I proffer that this coin is somewhere around a VF-20 to VF-30.

Thoughts, input, opinions? Please chime in !

BTW - the cost was 35.00 USD

Thanks.

Wow Vermontensium... Big Difference.

Perhaps someone could please kindly advise where I missed something and was off kilter... I'd greatly appreciate it. During the auction, I also went to the following ANA grading standards reference to sanity-check my assessment prior to bidding:

http://www.shieldnickels.net/anaGra...andards.html
http://www.shieldnickels.net/anaGra...s/page2.html

Excerpt from ANA guide found above:
VF-30
Obverse: Leaves show nearly full details. Vertical lines of shield are worn but sharp and separated.
Reverse: Numeral and stars worn. Most star centers show plainly.

VF-20
Obverse: Shield shows considerable flatness, but half of the horizontal lines are clear. Parts of the details still show in leaves. Cross worn but outlined.
Reverse: Numeral and stars are worn. Star centers show half of details.

I was rather confident it was VF-20, and I suppose "hopeful" it was a VF-30.

Thanks, kindly.

vertical shield lines are clear and majority of horizontal lines are still separated, stars on rev have >3/4 detail- all of that keeps it at VF level

I would call it VF-25

I think you got a VF-25 coin. Don't worry, it's not a VG from what I see.

Looks like a cleaned VF20 piece. It might net grade to VG but the details are much better than VG.

$35.00 sounds like an appropriate retail price.
