I'd be happy if some of the US folks could give me an idea on this. I've been running across a few orphan US coins as I empty out boxes of various (Mostly Canadian) collections I've bought over the years. Thank you.

Assuming the scanner didnt capture the existing luster of this
coin, I'm playing it safe at around MS62.

It has a commonly-weak strike, and nice, clean fields. I see one bag mark on the chin and I see some corrosion spots forming which may compromise my grade.

Scanner didn't do the luster justice as per usual. The corrosion spots are actually real dirt and cobweb pieces (he needs a bath in acetone) from not being stored correctly. The strike I was unsure of, thank you. I had tagged him MS 61 and he'll stay there I think. Bell lines while nice and clean don't make FBL as far as I know.

He was stored inside a hand made woolen Christmas ornament wrapped loosely in something like cling wrap....

Sorry Ugly. They certainly are full bell lines.Great so far. Can't see the feathers on the eagle to the right of the bell though.Could be a proof coin. http://www.caccoin.com/reference-se...ference-set/

Definitely not a Proof. Not with that "D" above the bell (if that is a "D"). Browsing through "Photo Grade" looks like maybe MS-61.
