Hello,
I recently bought a 1917 type 1 SQL and the coin shop I bought it from can't locate it. They offered to locate a similar coin and sell it to me at a discount. They listed the coin I bought as AU but I believe it could hit MS easily, maybe even Full Head MS (would need to see in hand). How would you grade this coin based on the ebay pictures.

Thank you for your input.

I think you will probably be glad you didn't get it. That coin does have very nice details but it has been harshly cleaned, hairlines @10-4 on obverse and 9-3 on reverse. The price was not too out of line, it is right at Greysheet AU bid but I personally would not pay much more than $100 for it(EF ask money).

Yikes! That baby has been scrubbed! On the whole, I have not been impressed with that dealer's wares or prices (despite their ebay handle)(personal opinion, of course!)
