1964 5¢ Xwl Variety-Variety - Coin Community Forum

splatto Valued Member Canada 426 Posts	Posted 06/08/2010 1:53 pm I was at a coin store at lunch and saw in a jewel case a 1964 nickel with "XWL" marked on the 2x2. I looked at it and I couldn't see it. I asked the dealer and he said it's not the variety, it's a variety of the variety. He suggested to me to leave it be for now, until more information is known about it. Has anyone else heard of this variety-variety? Report this Post to the Staff

splatto Valued Member Canada 426 Posts	Posted 06/29/2010 10:59 pm I need to stress that this is NOT the coin I initially created the topic about. I still have not been back to the dealer to check that coin out or take pictures. However this past weekend when I was cooped up at home avoiding the G20 madness, I found this coin with an XWL in a roll. Turns out his XWL stands for Extended Water Lines (they run almost into the denticles). Mine does have an XWL that runs into the KG, and not the typical water line known for the variety.
