If it is, then this is wild...but I'm thinking its a misprint and it should read 5 cent.

I don't think so.
Such errors are caused by one coin being punched out too close to the hole of another coin on the massive sheet of metal at the mint.

Therefore, the shape of the clip should be somewhat octagonal, as that would be the shaped the mint punched out.

Yes typo.
I've asked the seller for a pic of the reverse. Also asked for a weight and a colour
Clearly struck in a five cent collar so it would be a five cent die.
Looks interesting

A US seller with a rating of 5. Definately a typo on the 50 cent. A nice off-struck nickel. Good luck on the bidding!

11 ft pole on this one. Please have a look where the denticles stop....should keep going to the edge...they do not.....makes no sense. IMO

Even if the title is a typo, the seller placed it in the "fifty cent" coin category

Ya - I just used "typo" because it was shorter than confusion? Some folks from the USA have trouble with Canadian money!
I do see the denticle problem that crf is talking about but am I not seeing a blakesly opposite the "clip"?

crf.... you've stolen one of my favorite sayings and what I use as a coin-evaluating tip. That'll cost you a Kieth's next time we cross paths.

I agree that this should have an octagonal shape on the clip. The damage doesn't seem to make sense as it is.

Shoot.
Now I wish I never put a bid in.. Hope some unsuspecting collector wants it more than for 5 bucks.
