1964 Kennedy Proof Half Diagnostics Question

zazenboy Valued Member United States 103 Posts	Posted 07/15/2010 4:36 pm I finally completed my 1992-2009 date run of 90% Kennedy halves, and realized that a complete set ought to include the 1964 proof. When I looked on ebay, not only were there regular proofs, but also "accented hair" proofs...at 4x-10xs the price of normal proofs. I've never seen this before, so I don't know what to look for. Questions: 1. Is the accented hair a true die variety or just a stronger strike? 2. If a true die variety, are there die diagnostics distinguishing from normal proof strikes? 3. Is there a ratio between accented hair and normal proof? 4. Should I go after a cameo proof in either type? Thanks, all you modern coinage specialists, I learn something from CCF everyday. Whytlash Valued Member United States 407 Posts	Posted 07/15/2010 5:38 pm As I recall the story, Jackie Kennedy had a problem with the bust used for the half, and the brunt of it had to do with his hair.
