Hey! after doing some cleaning around my apartment I found a box of coins that I collected from many years back and kind of forgot about. I decided to check online and see if any of them were worth anything. After not seeing too much I did notice an old Canadian penny I had from 1936 so when I checked most of the web said that a 1936 dot penny was worth quite a bit. low an behold there is a dot just under the date.
I would like to know what my next step should be. Do I get it appraised to make sure it is indeed what I hope it should be? What is the going price for one of these? etc.
Thanks

yes I check as thoroughly I could, I will confirm better with scanned images but I'm 99% sure it is there (just under the 3 in 1936

are there 2 dots? the one under the date is normal, the dot under the scroll under the date is what you need.

Here is an image showing where the dot is on the coin that I have. Please note this is not an actual image of my coin but one showing where the placement of the dot is on the one I have. if this is the correct dot then I will scan and post an actual pic of the one that I have tomorrow. Is this where the dot should be?

Go ahead, scan. If your coin looks like that picture, it looks you don't have the scroll

The dot on the scan seems slightly to the right of the dot on the known authentic example.

There are THREE known examples of this coin. It's most likely a fake, straight. I'm not the kind of person to post on every thread saying "it's fake" but this is an extremely scarse coin that is next to impossible to just find laying around.
Just to verify, could you take another picture, only this time with your hand in the picture holding the coin up to the camera.

Hate to burst your bubble..but yours is Not Authentic... I compared pictures as per following: With the red line lined up with the edge of the # 3 there is a noticeable difference in the placement of the dot..

Not a problem, after getting to work this morning and having access to an eye loop I was able to inspect it much closer. Looks as if there is a "pockmark" on the finish in that area. I am definitely not an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but smart enough to know that is not suppose be there. Thanks everyone who helped.
