Thanks for the game but even more thanks for helping me to understand how to play the game. It was an excellent tuorial and now I can play in the harder games with other people.

Nice tutorial- my brain no longer hurts from looking at a Mastermind game being played, but not sure I get it well enough to participate in the "big" games. I think I'll look it over again....

I'm trying to understand the "table helper" of this game.
In guess number two, why guess "red orange xxx yyy", if you have already eliminated their positions in the table? Perhaps I am missing something.

A lot of times, especially early in the game, when splitting a guess like that, it will help you isolate the clue to one side.

On the bigger games, and again, early in the game, let's say the first guess is A B C D E F G.
You will often see a next guess of B C D E F G H.
If the first guess gives you a clue of 1/0 and the second clue gives you a guess of 2/0, you have eliminated A in the answer while confirming H.
If you were to get another 1/0, then you have 1 of 2 scenarios:
A) you have isolated the 1/0 to B C D E F or G (which eliminates A and H), OR
B) you have confirmed that A and H are in the answer.
which obviously you will need another guess to figure out, but it gives you something to key on early in the game.

I'm not sure you understand my question or I did not understand your reply.
If red is crossed out in position 1 and orange is crossed out in position 2 after the player's first guess (see your starter example), would a second guess (see your starter example) of "orange red pink indigo" have possibly yielded more info?

I say that because, if you get a clue of 1/1, it does give you information, but it muddies the waters, so to speak. Is the 1/1 because you switched Red and Orange? Or is the 1/1 because of Pink or Indigo?
If you leave Red and Orange alone and get a 1/1, it's definitely Pink or Indigo! There is no right or wrong.
You usually only see that type of move early in a game trying to isolate clues.
Other players and strategies may want to do it that way, or any numerous ways. Again, it's just the process of elimination, and if you can find an edge, you'll be right there in the end!
