Quote: no powerballs So is that what happened when I was on vacation a few weeks ago? Someone used a powerball to kill the game?

I don't use a checklist either...I do it in my head like svslav. Seriously, I keep a list of all the guesses, marking off positions, circling identified currencies, and just write a few notes on the possibilities remaining for the currencies that are "on the table". Also, a complete list of currencies for marking eliminations. "On the table" are currencies that have been guessed but not eliminated as a possibility.

I don't use a checklist like that, either. I keep track of the guesses and the clues, of course, but only got around to the formula part when I was actually hosting. I've been meaning to adapt it for play but haven't had a chance.. so I do it visually.
Also the complete list of currencies.. eliminated ones are deleted and possibilities color-coded.

Quote: I do it in my head like svslav. Interesting approach. I'm sure there are many ways to go about it. I way just trying to lay out a methodical approach and to help people understand the concept and logic involved in solving the puzzle.

I have made a new spreadsheet using Excel, and I have passed it out to a couple of people. I do not have an FTP here at work so you can wait for the link or PM me and I'll send you a copy if you want. I'm not pushing this, I just don't want anyone to think I'm playing favorites. It is nothing special, but I think it helps later in the game, when there are lots of guesses to compare against. I also added the check list style on a seperate sheet of the file. I want to see if I can make this work to my advantage. Seems the only way to beat Scooby at this game is to have him host it. Maybe this sheet was his secret. I'll soon find out then I'll soon rule the mastermind kingdom.

BTW Scooby, thanks for that tutorial. I always knew how to play but that really helped a lot. Hopefully there will be a lot of new players now

so just to clarify, if a guess is 0,0 then can you just mark out that whole currency in all 7 positions?
