I collect Morgans and Morgan VAM's. I am currently working on a MS-66 (anyone getting tired of hearing this yet) Minimum Date set of Morgans and also trying to complete a 1878 Morgan VAM set(which consists of well over 200 VAM's in just this one year). before I started my quest for MS66 Morgans I had a pretty good collection already in MS64 (almost 85% of a date set, and close to 45% of a date/mint mark set) so this is a major remodeling job that has been started and probably will not be finished anytime in the near future

I collect only Australian coins, not because I dislike other coins, it's just that I happen to love Aussie ones. My son, however, collects world coins, he especially loves U.S.A. and Canadian coins. He also collects tokens, stamps, minerals, and old bank notes.

I'm rather simple-minded - I only collect one date.

Recently I've been trying to put together a set of 1965-1998 US quarters in MS66. I keep getting outbid by the registry set crowd who is willing to pay much more than retail for these coins. A few nice coins still slip through the cracks though. I've also been studying up on 18th and 19th century Mexican coins and think I might take the dive soon.

not as crazy as the guys who compete for the best PO-1 registry set and get upset if a coin comes back ag-3. (no offense to anybody out there who does this, of course.)

I started out with M.S. Morgan from Littleton.$17 and maybe AU,a '21.Three years ago. Then soon after,Coin Vault.4 BU for $100.They're still not worth that. Then I was buying at a coin show every month.Proof and mint sets and a few graded quarters. And a bunch of $5 gold eagles by mail.Constantly told to buy the graded Libs. I did well, nowadays.Gotta tube of'04 silver eagles $145 And I have been buying from the mint.I have learned a lot in the last three years.Did a lot of reading.I figure the more variety ,the better the chance of having things that rise in value.Got my first real collectors coin,a few months ago, that I love '25 1/4 Indian.AU or so (now I know only from Denver that year). Missed out on a lot though like a '28P Peace , nice but dipped,$200 I shoulda. http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k...HPIM0208.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k...HPIM0207.jpg

I have collected just about everything you can think of- Something from all major countries., Have collected Major Grt Brt Victorian Type set, COmpleted Victorian Farthing series, Also Panama (complete type set) Set of Mexican type coins-I traded a Mexican gold type set (with a little boot) for a 27 Foot Owens Cabin Cruiser that my family enjoyed for ten years--didn't lose a dime on it when I sold it. All in the albums that they go withl,. Also Major Philippine type set (complete except for one coin) But my real interest now lies in Ancient Coinages- I love the histories- The other major effort I have collected is Great Britain Conder Tokens- (Now there is real fun here- and still affordable for many many nice coins. None of this is intended as a brag- It is just that I have been at it for a long long time- since 1952- and I can tell you- Coins do appreciate in value- If that would be what you are thinking of- But the best part is the hunt- The athestic and the knowledge gained- Also through coin clubs the many many nice people(for the most part) that you meet.
