ok so I have some original bank wrapped rolls of pennies, 1961-d, 59-d, 1961, 77-2, a few are in very tightly wrapped rolls, I opened one, and they were all the same. the other ones are not as tightly wrapped, but still shutgun rolled. I dont know if they are all the same or would they be mixed. I dont know if I i opened them if it would take the value down. can somone give me a reference to where I can find bid/ask prices other than ebay? |

The grey sheet says 1961d bid 1.35 ask 1.45, 1959 bid 1.50 ask 1.65, 1961 bid 1.00, ask 1.10, 1977 bid 1.00 and 1.10. I hope that helps.

From the May 2010 Greysheet Supplement:
Date: Bid/Ask
1961-d: $1.35/$1.45
59-d: $2.80/$3.10
1961: $1.00/$1.10
1977: $1.00/$1.10
Prices are for solid date, BU rolls. Coinage Magazine lists retail pricing also. If the coins are all truly Red BU pcs, you can get a bit more for them.

Oops... I looked up 1959 not 1959 d. Bh is corect on the price. I got mine out of the July 11 2010 edition.

ok so what about wheats?
they are not BU.. but I have solid rolls of 56-d, 57-d, 58-d. most XF and some showing luster, in the AU range. what would a roll of these go for? also, I have mixed dates of wheats, 40's 50's. what would they go for as well. thanks

I don't imagine anyone would pay more than $2-3 bucks a roll. See what's been sold on ebay. No CDN prices on circulated rolls. |

well ebay has a few of them going for 2.99 +1.99 shipping. and they have sold at that price. . I wonder if I compile a roll of complete 45's or 46-s, would it be worth more solid dates or mixed |

High jacking....So, the grey sheet to get these prices is the 3A version? BU roll prices? I need to buy BU rolls of 2005 - 2010 nickels and dimes and need an idea of prices. Would the regular grey sheet cover these or do I need this 3A supplement?
Sorry SD for the high jack but it looks like we both could use the information.

I am of the opinion that rolls of bu copper pennies are too cheap when priced by greysheet. 5 cents a piece for bu coins just seems fair to me.
Yes I know there are tractor trailor fulls of these coins but for crying out loud the copper value alone is 3 cents without taking into consideration the 40 years of being in storage and still looking like they are fresh from the mint. Sincerely, John Leckrone

I agree John, the prices are too low. I have a dealer who does that, I should clean him out of BU coppers. LOL
Today's melt value for a roll of copper cents: $1.07
CDN price 1960 BU roll price: $1.10
A whopping 3 cent numismatic premium for a BU roll of 60's? Come on CDN, they need to get to work adjusting the prices.

I have paid anywhere from $1.50 to $3.00 a roll when someone brings them in. I look at it this way. It is a LOT easier to build nice sets if you have rolls of bu coins patiently waiting to be put in a book.... I roll search and am always very pleased when I come up with a bu penny that has been in someone's coin jar for 30 or 40 years. It is especially nice if you know it grades at an ms 64 or 65. Most bu coins should grade at ms 63 or 64 with no problem and a 65 is always worth a few dollars and would thus pay for the whole roll! This is a grand case of the whole being worth less than the sum of it's parts. Buy out the dealer Thad. If you don't I might!!  |
