The Wonders Of Acetone

If you are going to use a q-tip, make sure the q-tip and coin are wet at all times! A light touch is best, do not scrub, and you run a great risk of hairlines if you are not working wet. I would not recommend using a q-tip on an MS or proof coin, that work is much less forgiving than on a circulated coin.

Just a word of caution. Acetone is explosively flammable.
That means no open flame, pilot lights, static sparks or any other possible source of ignition in the vicinity.

Use good ventilation the high might be fun for some. But the hangover is hideous

When I was manufacturing resins for paint bases, Acetone was the one solvent that truly frightened the management. We had to make sure our containers were mutually grounded when we were pouring from one to another.

One of my co workers was badly burned when he was blown across a large room and up against a concrete wall. He was in the process of weighing some acetone at the time.
As a result they had to shut down the plant for two years.

It is great stuff when properly used. I buy it by the Gallon. Just be careful
