Today I got what's probably one of the nicest 1995 $1s I've seen, and a filler for my collection, as the suffix letter is Y, something only seen on 1995 NYC and San Francisco bills!

Last night, I noticed a 1977 $1 on top of a stack of cash after closing at work, so I asked if I could trade a 5 for five ones, and they said I could, so now I have a new addition to my collection! And today, I got an uncirculated 1996 $50 and 1999 $20 from the bank for a check.

Quote:Quote: Received this nice hundred after cashing a check at the bank today. Very nice! It would be difficult for me to keep. I would have to trade it with a dealer for coins on my list. I ran into that dilemma a couple weeks ago. I had a series 1950 $100, a series 1950 $10, and a series 1963 $10 (all great condition) cross my path at roughly the same time. I already have an even nicer 1950 $10, and I'd rather use the money to buy silver dollars instead. So that's what I did.

I still haven't found a pre-2006 $5 at any of my pickup banks in awhile, so I've had to resort to intercepting them out of cash registers by trading my own bills for them.

Either people are hoarding all the older bills as new ones come out with more changes from high school graphics arts classes, or they just don't make em like they used to?

I pickup a few older portrait bills every week from the bank. You gotta remember its been almost 20 years since they were last printed. So nowadays they are relatively uncommon. I still see the non-colorized monopoly bills frequently. If you are hunting those, the bank should have plenty.

Most banks I go to have plenty of uncolored 10s, 50s, and 100s. 5s and 20s are harder to come by, and I usually have to go between several banks before I find one. Lately though, I've had to buy old 5s out of registers, and luckily the cashiers cooperate when I ask for change and then ask to trade a new 5 for the older one that got spent.

Got an XF 1995 $2 bill at the circle k. The ladies there save them for me. Usually they are so ugly I'm afraid to touch them (the $2 bills, not the ladies) but this one was nice.
