A co-worker asked me yesterday if I could help them identify some coins from their grandmother. They couldn't tell me much, and they didn't know if they were U.S. or world currency. I said I'd be glad to help. I'm expecting some interesting world coins or something like a merc or morgan.

Imagine my surprise when they bring in an envelope and pull out two beautiful quarter eagles . These are the first I've had the opportunity to see up close. Beautiful coins.

Nice. Did you tell them that they should send them in for grading?

I am thinking they should not be sent in without being something special. 2x2 flips should work fine.

Very cool. What are the dates, mints, and approximate grades? Can you post photos?

I hope these coins are now in separate holders. I cringe thinking about two gold collectible coins banging around in one envelope.

I agree it won't be worth having them certified unless they are scarcer dates and/or in relatively high grade.

Sorry guys, had to go out of town for the weekend. I don't have the coins in hand so dates and pics are out right now, but I offered to package them for the owner (they were in separate plastic bags so that's something at least) so I'll see if I can get photos soon.
