I'm sure that I'm not the only one that's noticed but, my there certainly have been a LOT of new folks signing up on the CCF! Wow! Is it because it's too hot outdoors to do much of anything else? Is this common for the Summertime or is the word getting out that this forum is so wonderful! I'm impressed! Any factual numbers of how many new members recently? I'm losing track of who's who! ;-)

Actually there are several reasons.

  • Our search engine placement is getting better due to backlinks "just happening". IOW, in addition to the ones I go out of my way to get placed, people are just linking to threads and pages here for the info. Each link is a "vote yes" in the search engines eyes.

  • The more members we get, the better the word of mouth is. How many people have you told? [:p]
And they told 2 friends.... And they told 2 friends.... And they told 2 friends.... And they told 2 friends....

  • Susan and I have been writing numismatic articles around the internet. We are about to launch something brand new relating to this that a few forum members are already very interested in, details to follow in a few weeks.

  • Our members contribute quality content. Who wouldn't want to be here?

There are more reasons too, these are the main ones though.

Thanks Bobby, I knew there was a good reason other than the fact that the CCF is so wonderful and you and Susan are a big reason it is! Great job all!

the only way I could ever tell anyone else about this forum is on the internet because I have absolutely no one except my grandfather (and he doesn't even need a computer) who collects coins at all. So you all here are my collecting family, but I am trying to change that with a few panda coins that I will be giving my wife for our anniversary on the 30th of this month in hopes she will get interested in numismatics along with me and maybe it will bring us closer like the forum mom and dad

I gave my wife a reel and rod for her B-day, thinking that if she did not like it, I could use it.......WRONG CHOICE.

You may wanna rethink it....

You asked for some statistics; here are some recent ones by my reckoning:

March 2006: 93 new members
April 2006: 108 new members
May 2006: 96 new members
June 2006: 70 new members
July 2006: 99 new members

Not bad, folks - averaging around 100 new members a month.

(edited for spelling)

I'm new to this forum. I found this place through a search engine and am glad I did. I was lurking for a little while just checking this place out. The thing that sold me on it (well many things) was the wealth of info here. The wide range of topics. The no. 1 thing was the friendliness of the members. That makes all the difference to me. I've lurked on other forums and still do from time to time, but the respect that is shown here is fantastic. You don't get slammed into the ground if you don't know as much as the next guy as I have seen elsewhere. I feel right at home here. I have a buddy that also collects and I will be telling him about this place later today as a matter of fact.

I have to agree with Southern Yankee, it was the friendliness and patience of the members here that encouraged me to join. No matter how stupid my question is, it always gets answered politely! Also, this forum is even suitable for my eight-year-old son to visit, and how many forum's can claim that?

Thanks Sap for the #'s! That's just amazing!

I too was just wandering around the internet a few short months ago and ran across a link to our wonderful Community! Being involved here has helped me so much to understand some of the things that just aren't explained well enough in the books and lack the personal touches that the books do! I too have asked some pretty dumb questions and also have made some stupid sounding remarks along the way but, each and every time was treated with respect.

Some of the discussions get a little too routy, from time to time, but we all can agree to disagree like Adults but, we can also act like Children and noone laughs at us! We all laugh WITH one another! So, not only is the CCF educational but, it's fun!

Other than the incredible knowledge and that which it is taught and learned, are the friendships and trust that has come about from this forum!

Mom and Dad and crew are doing a fantastic job of keeping our Forum "Family Friendly" and that's tough to do in today's World. Thanks to all for their incredible efforts and time dedicated to this beautiful Hobby and Investment of all of ours.

(ps: Didn't I originally post this somewhere else or am I losing my last "marble"?)
