With my new pages, a Ziploc bag is no longer sufficient for storing. I tried both the regular and the freezer bag. The freezer bag works kind of but as often as I get the album out, The corners of the album puncture the bag over time.
I know dansco makes sleeves but these are not weatherproof. I think someone will soon start marketing a weatherproof bag but until then, I am looking for something that will suffice.

Does the Dansco company produce a album cover that the album fits into, and if so does that cover provide some kind of moisture barrier? Not a Dansco album owner but contemplating being one. Sorry to add a question to your thread.

John: If you added a Dansco Slip Case you wouldn't have a problem with corners puncturing the bag.

What gases does a ziploc bag emit? I know they're not made of PVC, but nor are they made of mylar.

Rather than taking the word from a forum of coin collectors, why not do as I did and call them. Look on the box for their name and/or look it up on the internet. Then call them and ask for techical support. Ask them what is the majority of their material in a Zip Lock bag. Also explain your using them to protect coins and are wondering if there is any material in their product that could effect metals. Of course they will not and can not tell you the exact formulae for their product since that information is propritary. They will tell you what the materials are though. And they will also tell you that their product is ssfe for all foods and even metal coins. For fun do what I have been doing lately. Tell them this call may be monitored and recorded for safety purposes. They all do that to us lately. Back to your problem. They do come in some rather large sizes above the one gallon ones your probably using. Dansco's are a bit larger than Whitman, Littleton and a few others. However, many of my Whitman Albums are now with 9 or 10 pages so I too am now using a larger than normal size.

I thought food-safe was generally coin-safe.

They make HUGE ziplocks, you need to go shopping for the super large bags. I saw like 3 different large size bags the last time I checked.

A good place to find them is hobby stores, specifically ones that sell fabric and stuff for quilting. My wife quilts, and she uses ziplocs to hold everything that something like 3' x 3' (feet, not inches).

Carl, what bag are you using then? That link coinaholic posted are to bags that are non-food storage. So does this mean they are a different material or maybe they are just not sterilized.

I guess I'll go check out Walmart and see what they have available.
