That would be something if it was real.

FAKE! But I would love for it to be legit. Send it to ANACS or PCGS to have it confirmed. If it is real it is worth MEGA bucks.

based on recent topics on here, there must be a ton more of those 1936 dots than we all thought. I'm guessing the market value is soon to come down, so maybe hold off on sending it in to a TPG. out of curiousity, how do you know its been in a safety deposit box for 70 years?

First of all ..... to the CCF. You found the right place to seek answers. The experts here will chime in with opinions ...... but without a doubt the clarity of your photos are limiting our ability to see the distinctive markings that define this rare and valuable coin. Is there any way you can take clearer photos? David

I'm with nicklesearcher. Welcome to the forum. A great place to get coin advice. Better pics would help us help you. It would truly be a slam dunk if this turns out to be real. I'm not a canadian expert, but would love to come up with one of these for sure. Good luck.

It looks like a little piece of copper was plastered on but then again 70 years in the bank! It would only have 4 years to be counterfeited.

I wouldn't put money on authenticity, but it'd be good to see better pics

Somehow the dot just doesn't look right to me ! The three known are all in MINT state. I still see a red flag with that one. Anyway

I understand that ICCS has had a number of circulated 1936 dot cents submitted for certification but have never certified one genuine or fake. I assume they are not convinced that any of these coins ever circulated but are hesistant to take a position.

Whose SD box was it? I'm interested in knowing how the coin came into your possession.

I would think that ICCS (and other TPG) would only certify coins as genuine, or refuse to certify it as genuine. They would never certify something as a fake, for legal reasons.
