I have to give my wife due credit for the finds today. She's employed by a CU, and while working heard the "tink" of silver being layed out upon the counter. She was able to nab 4 and a half rolls of 40%' Kennedys out

Nice-Little-Haul-Of-40%-At-The-Credit-Union-Pics!

Nice-Little-Haul-Of-40%-At-The-Credit-Union-Pics! of 5 rolls total. She really brought home the bacon, and I've taught her well!

SD and Rasta, it was an older guy in his 70's that cashed in the 5 rolls...they were all marked 1966,67,etc...employees can buy coin at any time, they just have to buy from another teller. One teller there bought a bunch of Peace and Morgans for a buck apiece. Another teller has amassed a large hoard of silver over the last 20 years. This is a small CU, they don't take in large amounts of coin, but my wife knows what to watch for and I really appreciate that! ffd

Wow, nice score. Congrats!

FYI, my local coin shop is buying 40% silver halves for $1.75 each. However, I just sold some on ebay and they reached nearly $3 apiece. Sure seems like ebay is the way to go if you want to cash out.

Really nice going. At most banks around here they don't allow tellers to take anything. I guess from what I've been hearing, CU's are different.

Well, I've got no desire to sell coins on ebay, what with fees and deadbeat buyers and such (and the hassle of shipping), had a bad experience where I sent $150 m.o. back in the old days before paypal and the seller took my money and ran. I know it's different now, if you're not a five-star seller you're nobody.
I've been roll hunting for several years, and tellers have always had first dibs on anything that comes into the bank. They just have to make the purchase through another teller on the line. Almost every bank in my area has a cherry-picking teller. I do know that Comerica bank and others have a policy, where if someone comes in with coin and it has bullion value, policy is that they must make customer aware of that fact.

Thanks AG, yeah I'm kind of spoiled having my wife telling and nabbing coins where she works. It isn't often that nice coins come in, but they do from time to time. That, and I spend too much time dirtfishing too much to do any roll hunting during the summer. Been digging lots of Barbers this year including a 1901 half, 2 Frankin halves, Barber quarter, Barb dimes and tons of mercs.
