Now there's a reason to drink "Old No 7," improved visual acuity! I missed it too.

That size/placement of the word copy is still in violation of the Hobby Protection Act of 1973. I reported these coins to ebay and notified the seller who I believe does not know they are copies.

One just sold for $1377. Someone is going to be really upset when they get their replica.

What gets me is that he is selling copies as originals and saying that all proceeds go to charity. It not only makes him look bad but it also gives the charity a black eye. I hope the buyer files a complaint with ebay.

This is supposed to be a Christian organization and I hate to say it but it really looks like they knew this was a fake coin from the very start. Quote: THIS COIN WILL BE SHIPPED WITH INSURANCE. NO RETURNS ON COINS AS THE PRICE IS FLUCTUATING CONSTANTLY. What does the fluctuating price of coins have to do with getting your money back and returning a coin to the seller? Through statements in the description they covered their tails TWICE by pretty much telling the buyer they are stuck with the coin after the sale. VERY SAD!

Quote: What does the fluctuating price of coins have to do with getting your money back and returning a coin to the seller? They're talking about the fluctuating price of gold. Completely understandable. I think chances are real good that the seller didn't realize these were copies, did anyone email the seller and tell them they have copy stamped on them?

If it were made before 1973, and was counterfeit, and out of compliance with todays laws wouldn't it have to be confiscated and descroyed and certainly illegal to pass on as a genuin coin. I thought that the "COPY" had to be stamped into the coin, not incorporated into the design. Is that not true? Can "COPY" be raised?

I let him know that 3 of his Double Eagles had "COPY" stamped on the reverse before the auctions closed. He did have several $10 Eagles that appeared authentic for sale also.

With the possible exception of the high shipping prices, the buyers should get their money back from Paypal shouldn't they? Then again, bherring brought to the attention of the seller the word 'copy' stamped on the coin 'before' the end of the auctions, so if this 'is' a righteous organization as claimed, then the seller should just refund full purchase price 'including' shipping without ever sending these 'coins'. It would be interesting to see how it all pans out.

They never corrected their ad--and somebody will be sorry when they bring that to a coin dealer. Why do I get the impression that the "charity" this benefits is them?
