I know nothing about these coins and would greatly appreciate some input. The top coin makes me think 'India' or maybe even the look of the ancient Hebrew language. But I'm just stabbing in the dark here.

Anyone ever seen anything similar to these?

The top one isn't technically "ancient". It's a copper para from Ottoman-controlled Libya. It's dated "1223" Islamic calendar, which converts to 1808 AD, but could have been struck anytime from then up to 1830. If you have an 1800s Krause it's listed as KM 93.

Bottom left is a typical Late Roman Bronze portrait. If I had to guess, I'd guess emperor Constans, but coins of this style were struck from 300 to 500 AD.

Bottom right, I can see a horse, but that doesn't help much without a legible inscription or a clear obverse. I'm thinking maybe ancient Carthaginian, or perhaps Thessaly.

Thank you both for your comments.

sap, That information is very helpful. I appreciate it. The top coin (copper para) is also very thin when compared to most other coins. It definately "sounds" like copper when dropped on the table. Nice to know the date - within a 22 year period anyway.

That is definately an equine figure on the lower right coin. I've thought that I could almost make out portions of a face on the obverse but it is really too corroded to be certain. This coin seems to be indented (concave) on the side with the horse and raised (convexed) on the other side. Don't know if that helps any or not.

Is there any good way too remove or reduce that copper corrosion without further damaging the coin? Might be worth it in order to learn more about it.

I think I'm going to really enjoy learning more about the ancient coins. Just something about making that connection with a society (holding in your hand a piece of that society) that lived hundreds or even thousands of years ago. Pretty cool stuff.
