Can someone tell me what this would be graded and explain to me why it's not higher/lower then what you think? Plus, can anyone help with taking photo's of these things? I had to use my camera phone because the camera wouldn't focus (not that these are 100% focused, they're better). Thanks in advance. Report this Post to the Staff

upstate Pillar of the Community United States 3283 Posts	Posted 10/07/2010 7:12 pm Yeah that one is real nice.I not the guy you want to hear from but I do know you'll get "deductions" for the little hits on the cheek and in his temporal region. As you probably already know in the higher MS states; luster,eye appeal and strike come into play. Also with little hits like the ones I mentioned, it depends where they are. Hits on his face are more critical than if they were toward the rim. Report this Post to the Staff
biokemist6 Bedrock of the Community United States 12437 Posts	Posted 10/07/2010 9:03 pm Based on the obverse photo, I would grade it MS65. The fields appear to be very clean and I notice only three small bagmarks- one on the lower cheek and two more in the hair. The reverse photo makes the coin look like it has been polished to a high gloss so hopefully that is just a case of bad lighting. As for taking photos with a digital camera, it is best to use a tripod or copystand and the timer on the camera along with the macro setting(icon is usually a flower). Report this Post to the Staff

I personally haven't cleaned this coin and I don't know how to tell if it has. If I can get better pictures would you be able to tell a little easier? I'm not denying that this coin has been cleaned because I honestly have no idea. I just bought silver a while back and went digging though it again and I don't know why I didn't put this beauty in a coin holder sooner. I had this one and about 2-3 others in very similiar condition. I may have to go get a Dansco folder to put them in. Report this Post to the Staff

When you look at the letters' crevices do they appear dark? Based on the photo, I say 65. Are there any rubs on the eagle's legs? Great coin and thanks for sharing! Report this Post to the Staff
lukkyseven Pillar of the Community United States 880 Posts	Posted 10/09/2010 10:50 am I couldn't find any rub marks under a 10x loop. There doesn't appear to be any dark spots anywhere on the coin. I am away from the coin right now, but I will look at the legs when I get back to it. I know this isn't a valueable quarter, but is it one worth getting graded? Report this Post to the Staff
