I went ahead and purchase 2 of the silver sets. I will get graded the other will stay in the packaging. I am truly excited...
However, the mint packaging seem on the low end for such important coins(based on pictures)...I was expecting something along the line of the 10th anniversary or prestige set packaging or the legacy sets...

I've been reading this entire thread and a ways back a guy asked for 5 good reason to buy the gold aniversary set.
I can come up with three reasons that made me decide to get it:
1. The reverse proof is limited to 10,000. That is insanely small. Look at the silver 95W now and that had a 30,000 mintage.
2 The uncirculated with the W mint mark and special treatment is limited to 30,000. (10,000 for 3 coin set and 20,00 for the gold/silver set). Again ...very low mintage.
3 These days everyone seem obsessed with getting coins certified. Many of the 10,000 will be slabbed and broken up.
Put it away for 10 years and I bet you that the reverse proof will be worth $4,000 alone and the W uncirculted $2,500. The set in Original Government Packaging I bet will be $6,500.00. This is not taking into account the rising spot prices which will only further enhance the value.

WoW ..that is amazing ...less than 24 hours. That's a really fast $26,100,000.00. I think my hypothetical numbers might be very conservative. I bet someone is already auctioning it off on ebay for $3,500.00 and it's not even in hand. Off to the races we goooooooo. P.S. It IS on ebay and the Buy it Now is $3,800.00. I think that once this set ships and is actually in hand, those that don't have it ...get to look at the actual coins...will have to have it and that will drive the set up to $6,500.00 by the end of the year.

yeah the investment part of this set just doubled if not tripled in value considering it already sold out so quickly. I am glad I ordered mine a few days ago, wish I had ordered 10 now though instead of 3

Yeah hindsight is 20/20.
Your 3 is a lot better than my 1...lol but I'm not complaining. For a brief instant I was contemplating a home equity loan. I sure learned my lesson.
If the mint ever does this again ...maybe in another 10 years if the program lasts that long. I'll dive right in head first instead of tiptoe.
Best of luck with your investment!
I'm thinking about maybe picking up a gold/silver set but I most likely won't. The real prize was the gold reverse proof.

yeah I figured with just 10,000 sets of the Gold coins and it being the First year of the reverse proof that this was going to be a good one, the 250,000 minted of the silver sets just dont appeal to me, the 20,000 of the gold and silver if were Reverse proof would probably be another Great investment but it being just a regular proof I dont think it will be near as important as the Reverse proof coins

I cannot believe it sold out so quickly I figured I'd order it in another day or two there wouldn't be that much of a rush, well I guess that shows me. I really wanted the reverse proof, maybe I will be able to get my hands on one as people break the sets if the value doesn't go up too high.

The 95W silver eagle comes to mind for me, it was only available in the gold set and it is now worth thousands of dollars itself (and its silver) these Reverse proof GOLD coins will probably be the same thing, the one coin will probably be worth a small fortune

considering there were only 10,000 sets minted (and cant be any more made than that for 2006) that means there is only 10,000 reverse proof coins (which by any standards is a low mintage) even the 95W silver eagle had 30,195 minted so I believe this will be a safe bet that it will be a key coin. Of course I am still trying to predict the future and that just cant be done, I am just going by past results of special coins like this and theirs being much higher coins being minted than these Reverse Proof Gold coins
