I just saw on VW that the VAM-86 in EF-45 that was found sold for $6500.00 at FUN show and one of the 63DMPL VAM-85's sold for $5,000.00. So I guess that $3200.00 he paid on TT wasn't quite so bad

I guess thats why he sold one and kept the other. he may have felt as he would fair better at a later date. As far as I know there were no others found at FUN, at least if there were I haven't heard of it. I know SSDC had a big meetting there and gave out awards to VAMmers there and stuff so if none were found it wasn't because no one was looking

Don't forget the other one was not for sale....still its a gamble. if others are not found then its value ever increases...Others , more than one registry set needs to be filled...to be TOP POP..

I highly doubt the coins found are the only ones out there, I also know there are no shortage of people looking for them.
In all, I would say those are some crazy prices.....

I agree we need some sales to get a value. I bet if the one had sold for allot more than it did the other one would have been up for sale also. The longer we go without another being found the better chance that when one does come up for sale that it will sell for a higher price.I am going to be honest it would be hard for me not to sell the one I have for the right price and I am sure I am allot more attached to mine than he was either of the ones he has. I would like to see about 4 or 5 of them sold so we can establish a price, as soon as PCGS recognizes it that is when the prices will probably bump up some. NGC already does recognize the 85 and going to be in the registry set as well but PCGS will be the big one when they add it

The one not sold although graded, was definitley better, I think your right, its a feeling out what the market will bear in times like these. so vams are bringing 30% or the listed value and others 200% guess its what you need to compete, and how much it costs...Its a buyers market...but if you need it and its there they buy it...

I couldn't imagine it going any other way, Bryan. You shook the world with that one. Not a whole heck of a lot more could have hit VAMming as hard as a brand-new B1 die pair.

I am very pleased the above people have been recognized for their efforts in the Vamming Hobby.

I would first like to Thank and have the Co-Founder, Leroy V. Allen, recognized for the Birth of amazing hobby of ours called VAMS, His efforts, time and unselfish contributions towards what I would refer to as a Passionate Drive of personal foresight for a research, turned passionate hobby for us ALL, I would also like to mention his Co-Founder, A.George Mallis, whom with out his assistance, I am sure, the hobby would of NOT been as it turned out to be,I also say, Thank you too, May He Rest In Peace.

Mr Scott, While I do NOT know you, I know of you and like the other people mentioned here, I know you have an outstanding knowledge of the Vamming hobby and also like the others, are very willing to share the knowledge and experiences you have with others and for this, I congratulate you too.

I also would like to Thank Mr.John Roberts, VamPicker, for his willingness to assist others with his seemingly endless knowledge of the Vamming hobby, I admire his devotion towards the growing of the hobby also he is a person to hope to become like for the mannerism, and kindness towards others he obviously shows us all everyday, Thank you.

I saved Kenneth Robb for the end for a reason, I have come to know Bryan, lol, since 2008 and have seen his interactions with others and his willingness to share his seemingly endless knowledge of the 1878's we have ALL come to love, but he obviously is one of three, lucky enough to have the VAM 85 in their collection.
I am so proud he was the recipient of an early Christmas present and made Vamming HISTORY,By using his obvious expertise and spotting the discovery coin, now known as the Vam-85. He is one of the most friendly, down to earth people I have met in a very long time and IMO, the discovery by him, could NOT of happened to a nicer person, Bryan I am so happy and proud of your accomplishments in the Vamming hobby, I wish you well and hope you the best of Health and Well being, God Bless you and your winning co-recipients, Mike....
